Breezefree provides Leicestershire County Cricket Club with two rows of tensile parasols to shelter spectators in style.
The client approached Breezefree with an idea for providing shelter at the cricket ground. After initial consultation, the client visited some of Breezefree’s completed installations in the area, then instructed Breezefree to proceed with the proposal to install VorTex parasols either side of the main pavilion.
Due to the unique requirements of the site, where the sightlines of TV cameras had to be taken into consideration, the height of the mast had to be extended 600mm higher than usual, with a custom-made ground-plate that was chemically anchored to the concrete terrace.
The parasol frames are solidly constructed from marine-grade stainless steel tubing, with a strong PVC membrane that is fitted under tension, giving the parasols their distinctive look. Tensile structures are the contemporary choice for cricket pavilion structures, so the parasols reflect this look whilst providing welcome shade in the sun and shelter in the rain.
Wasim Khan MBE, Chief Executive of Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket, said: “We feel that it is important to keep developing our facilities at Grace Road for members, and Breezefree have done a tremendous job with the new parasols.”
