Hilton’s first Doubletree hotel in Kingston - a bespoke cantilevered steel and glass canopy for it’s Hawkers Bar and Brasserie.
When the DoubleTree at Hilton's Interior Designer first presented initial concepts for a feature canopy for the Hawker's Bar and Restaurant (named in recognition of Sopwith’s famous test pilot Harry Hawker), it was our job to integrate their artistic vision with practical application methods so the structure would be failsafe and long lasting, whilst complimenting the overall design.

By coincidence, the cantilever fixing we created (to support the canopy from the inside of the building) was inspired by the same technology that Sopwith used to make their First World War biplanes extra durable.
"These weren't the easiest of items to install due to the building façade not being able to support any weight. During this process nothing phased Breezefree, you just got on with the new design and pulled out all the stops to install the canopy within the very tight timescale."

How fitting that, 100 years after Harry Hawker test-flew Sopwith's planes, the same wing-strutting technology has been used to support the canopy bearing his name: Hawker's Bar and Brassiere.
